Built in 2009 on the shores of Lake Kivu, the Rugamba wet mill sits at high altitude amid volcanic soils, sourcing cherries from surrounding farmers.
Outfitted with a three‑disk McKinnon pulper, fermentation tanks, and raised drying beds, it first floats incoming cherries to discard any underripe fruit, then dries them for 20–25 days on elevated patios.
Acquired by RTC in 2016 after four years of dormancy under previous ownership.
